What an incredible honoree we had for Service Above Self Award, John Hong, M.D.

What a pleasant surprise and honor to be addressed last week by Susanne Rae, international promoter of Rotary's World's Greatest Meal to End Polio!
This lovely Polio survivor has traveled literally around the world several times at her own expense and helped raise millions of dollars.
Thank you to Past District Governor, Chehab Elawar, and his lovely wife for bringing Susanne to our club!
Meanwhile our Senior Outreach Committee picked up a few mobile home clean-up jobs in Murrieta...thanks to Craig, Monique, Jana & Mark Swenson!

Taste of the World is a success, because of the countless hours & months of work organized by Jami, the direction of Craig, the sponsorship contributions of our members & community, Pechanga as presenting sponsor, and the awesome food & beverage sponsors. Nonetheless, underlying all of it is the energy our club puts into making the community & world a better place for that is the moving force.
 
 
We will hear from our RYLA students in a couple of weeks but last weekend was another huge success!

On Thursday, March 2nd Dr. Seuss' birthday, our Rotarians will be reading in the classrooms at Temecula Elementary School!
Our club's amazing Military Committee was able to give emergency assistance to a Marine at Camp Pendleton. Her sister was murdered by her husband in Texas and the Marine had to Texas to pick up her 1 & 4 year-old nieces and bring them back to base for their safety and security. With no furniture, clothes or toys our committee stepped in and took care it.

Our Senior Outreach Committee's collaboration with the Military Committee's Baby Shower In The Box for expecting enlisted wives in the 15th MEU at Camp Pendleton receive handmade blankets from local seniors...
It is always overwhelming to get updates from Steve Rubin, founder of the W.A.V.E.S. Project where wounded and/or suffering from PTSD veterans learn to scuba dive. Our club's Military Committee has heavily supported the W.A.V.E.S. Project but they have a waiting list so the more monetary support the better, https://www.wavesproject.org/donate/

We started 2017 and so far
its all about the kids...The Cub Scout Troop 301Wolves, which our club sponsors,  collected 21 care packages for donations for Michelle's Place and then delivered them there.
And at our meeting we hosted the 7th graders that attended the PRYDE Camp during December...
They shared their experiences and what they took away from the weekend.

What a sleigh ride through the Holidays...Santa for Seniors at the Mary Phillips Center, Craig with 95 year old Joseph a Pearl Harbor Survivor!
Our illustrious Senior Outreach crew...
Our Oak Grove Interact volunteers...
And of course the lovely seniors...
Of course our Christmas Toys, Bikes and Hams and the queen elf herself...
We delivered toys and bikes to over 300 kids and their families, with the help of the toy donations from local Temecula schools....
And the annual Turkey & Toys for 40 military families through our Military Committee...
And every successful venture needs the bean counters...
And on Christmas Day we helped put on the 22nd Annual Free Community Christmas Dinner serving over 1,000 people and delivering over 200 meals to home bound seniors...
Oh yes we did have some fun at our club's annual White Elephant gift exchange...some winners and some losers, all greeted by the club elf, thanks Dave...
 
 
We were honored to have US Marine Col. Joseph Clearfield, Commanding Officer of the 15th Military Expeditionary Unit (MEU), address our club after the presentation of our resolution adopting the 15th MEU.
Col. Clearfield gave our club a certificate of recognition for all our club's Military Committee does to support the MEU.
And we welcomed a surprise visitor, Past Pres. Jon Atwood, who was escaping the perfect weather in Florida...

During our meeting last week a familiar face and good friend of our club was inducted, by past president Kim, as a new member, welcome Jerry!
And thanks to this guy who started it all, we will be packing and delivering Toys and Bikes to our holiday families December 19th & 20th...
For the 5th year our club's Military Committee will be supporting local military families with Turkey & Toys for 40 families.
